Light Manage Creates Lens Images Pop

DP Sebastian Wiegrtner had precisely 3 days to fire the demo movie "Tumulus," that left no space for experimentation. To be certain he would broach the plan on schedule, he versed his Sony PMW-F3 with veteran camera trappings by OConnor , segment of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company. For this vicious project, he choosen the O-Box WM Mattebox together with the O-Grips handgrips and the new O-Focus DM Follow Focus with Glow-in-the-dark Marking Disks.

Considering the parsimonious schedule, the mandate were demanding. The opening of 3 new Super Speed Lenses by Carl Zeiss were to be impressively presented with cinematic, scenic images. Wiegrtner had a week for preparation, that enclosed the script, cast of characters the actors, place scouting and, of course, apparatus selection.

They primarily shot at night in a mythological Swiss forest. Light flares were to be avoided. For this reason alone, the O-Box WM mattebox was indispensable. In a few scenes, Wiegrtner had to follow the actors by gorges and the thick reforest with the supply on his shoulder. Robust apparatus was, therefore, a simple necessity for a well-spoken shoot.

For handheld camera shots, Wiegrtner relied on OConnor’s high-performance handgrips. He operated handheld 80 percent of the time.

The new lenses were prearranged focal length lenses, so visit lens changes were necessary. Because the O-Grips may be right away mounted on the O-Box WM, he usually had to eliminate the mattebox together with the O-Grips when varying lenses.

He moreover worked with the new O-Focus DM Cine Set. The glow-in-the-dark imprinting disks is to O-Focus DM moreover valid to be functional is to many night shoots. A flashlight was not essential since the imprinting disks glowed via the whole night.
