Simplenote Adds Dropbox Sync And Lists

Gadget Lab's preferred note-taking app, Simplenote, has only seen a leading new update. But do not worry. If you admire Simplenote since it is so, well, elementary , then you can keep on using it as if nothing had changed.

Here's a list of what's new:

Passcode lock
Better tags
People tags
Group tags
Lists
Dropbox integration

Let's beginning with the final piece first. Premium users (the app is free, but you can pay a annual subscription to go pro) can right away sync their records with Dropbox. Once completed (at the Simplenote website, not in the app), your records are mirrored as solid content files in the Dropbox office of your choice. The default name is Simplenote, but you can change it to whatever you like.

This means that you can sync Simplenote with any other Dropbox-friendly app. For instance, you can make rapid records about your novel in Simplenote and then improver and expand them in a purpose-built text-editor similar to Plain Text or Writings . It moreover means you can sync with any app on a desktop appurtenance that can read solid content files.

Next up is lists, moreover a reward feature. You can spin a note in to a list by drumming the "i" symbol in a note on your iOS device and flipping the "View As List" switch. Items right away obtain lines between them, together with the aware three-line iOS grab-handle for re-ordering list items. Swiping opposite an piece outlines it done, charming it by and graying it out.

Lists are still stored as solid text, and the syntax of these solid content versions is really similar to that used by the TaskPaper to-do app (pro tip for TaskPaper users: the @done label isn't supported).

The next large fix-up is tags. These right away auto-complete as you type. You can moreover label records with a person's email residence and it will be common with them, automatically. If they have a Simplenote account, the note will uncover up in their Simplenote. If not, they obtain a couple to the note on the web. Any changes they make, from possibly of these places, are reflected in your note immediately.

Further, you can make "group tags". These are only similar to groups in your letter client. In the tagging division of the note, strike the blue plus-sign and then strike the other plus-sign at the bottom of the consequent window. Give your organisation a pretension and collect the people you wish to put in it. All email addresses are auto-completed from your contacts.

Now, when you label a note with this organisation name, it is common with everybody in that group. we can see this being really utilitarian is to Gadget Lab team at next year's CES, to keep follow of that bars we will be discussion in.

And that's about it. You can right away password-protect your notes. A small gloss has been updated to the web-app, and reward subscriptions have vanished up to $2 per month, or $20 per year. That's up from a dollar a month and $12 per year, that will presumably result in many cheapskates to cackle in to their watery, 50-cent crater of coffee.

If you do not already have Simplenote, then tarnish on you. Its free. Go obtain it now.
