VIDEO: Sites Strike In Large Web Attack

Hi-tech criminals appear to have perpetrated the assault by using safety loopholes to insert rouge ethics in to websites.

Visitors to putrescent sites were then told multi-part viruses were rescued on their computers and stirred to download counterfeit pathogen protection.

Websense, a calm safety company, says it initial discovered the attack, that it dubbed Lizamoon, late final month, and sensitive others.

Patrik Runald, comparison executive for safety investigate at Websense told the BBC's Katty Kay that the scale of the assault was "worrying".
