ThinkGeek's ICade Turns IPad In To Retro Arcade Cabinet

Remember the iCade? Sure you do. It was ThinkGeek's 2010 April Fool gag, a minuscule tabletop colonnade appurtenance that used the iPad as its screen. Now, only over a year later, the iCade is real, and may be pre-ordered for $100 at ThinkGeek's store.

Along with the cost tumble (the fun section was $150) there have been a few changes to the supposed specs. Now the iCade connects to the iPad by Bluetooth, not by the wharf connector. It moreover has more buttons - 8 instead of only two - but it keeps a silver container so you can feed it with quarters.

But most appropriate of all is that ThinkGeek has teamed up with Atari. The mythological diversion firm not long ago expelled Atari's Greatest Hits , that brings 100 typical titles to the iPhone and iPad. These games have built-in encouragement is to iCade's joystick and buttons. ThinkGeek has moreover expelled an API so any developer can bake encouragement in to their own games. This rsther than functional add-on raises the iCade from small newness to obviously flattering awesome.

So renouned is the iCade that, notwithstanding only being existing for pre-order, it is already back ordered. Thus, you'll have to wait for is to second batch. International buyers will have an even longer wait, as worldwide shipping will only beginning once the iCade is in stock. My $100 is ready.
