Spotify Radio Puts Playlists On Physical Disks

Jordi Parra's Spotify Box is a superb compliance of the mix-tape and the radio, all in a prohibited small Dieter Rams-inspired box.

It functions similar to this. The "radio" segment has (or will have) a Wi-Fi connection and runs the Spotify music-streaming service using libspotify on embedded Linux. The air wave comes with a clasp of minuscule RFID disks. These may be scored equally to any Spotify follow or playlist, so when you cocktail them in to the small RFID-reading round on the front of the box, song starts to play. Buttons on the faceplate let you jump over tracks.

Apart from the superb look of the box, we similar to the idea a lot. You obtain the ease of use and outrageous song library of Spotify, but the physicality and hand-crafted playlists advance from the days of CDs, vinyl and cassette tapes.

That seperated front isn't only a orator grille, either. LEDs at the back the holes light up in a type of dot-matrix to make numbers, e-mail and icons to let your know what is going on inside. Here's the video:

Parra skeleton on stability with his project, and has even been in meeting with people from Spotify. Right right away the box is small more than a marginal that needs to be related to a P.C. to fool around music, but those are only details. The idea itself is a great one. And increase in a few type of AirPlay or Bluetooth audio capabilities and you have a super utilitarian - not to speak of hot-looking - wireless orator is to home.
