BT has fixed that a "power failure" at a leading swap in Birmingham has been causing problems for broadband customers opposite the UK.
Problems have been reported from as far afield as Belfast, Edinburgh, Swansea and London.
Many users took to Twitter to protest that the firm was not responding its helpline.
BT mentioned it was working hard to obtain data to customers about when service would be entirely restored.
The initial reports of mislaid connectors began to show up at around 13:00 BST.
By 15:00 BST many customers on consumer packages reported being able to earn access, but BT mentioned customers using its business services were still experiencing serious problems.
In a statement, the firm said: "We can approve that, as a outcome of a power disaster at a of the leading exchanges, a few customers might now be experiencing loss of broadband service.
"Our engineers are on-site and the most of customers' service has already been restored. We are working to revive service to outstanding customers as shortly as probable this afternoon.
"Should any customers go on to experience burden in accessing their broadband service, they are suggested to spin their heart or modem off and on again."
Many businesses have contacted the BBC to opening their disappointment at the service, suggesting today's problems have affected revenues.
Daniel Morris, in London, said: "Really frustrating for a tiny business as you are so reliant on the internet.
"Best thing was the BT helpline advising customers to logon to bt.com if they can't obtain by on the phone - not easy logging in without internet!"
Greg Gillies, executive of IT encouragement firm Pond Group, added: "We were unable, along with the rest of the country, to obtain grip of BT for declaration and had to rest on Twitter for unconfirmed updates."
In response, BT has mentioned it has received a "large number of calls" and was branch to amicable media and other methods to answer the considerable number of queries.
"We have been carrying out the really most appropriate to keep customers informed," the orator added.
