Citibank Confirms Hacking Attack

Hackers have stolen information from thousands of Citibank customers in the US, the bank has confirmed.

The crack unprotected the names of customers, account figures and meeting information.

But other key data, such as date of bieing born and card safety codes were not compromised, the bank mentioned in a statement.

Citigroup is the ultimate in a fibre of high form companies to be targeted by cyber criminals.

It has been criticised for not revelation customers about the crack when it happened in May.

"We are contacting customers whose information was impacted. Citi has implemented extended procedures to head off a regularity of this sort of event," a Citi orator mentioned in a matter to the Reuters headlines agency.

Around 1% of the bank's 21m account holders were affected - around 210,000 individuals.

The matter did not item how the crack had occurred.
