Ugly Duckling Lamp Makes Swan-Necked Lights From Junk

Take a few PVC siren and connectors, an smoke-stack of aged soft drink bottles and a few pieces from the shelves of the hardware store electrical subdepartment and what do you have? That's right: The Ugly Duckling Lamp, a DIY light-stand that transcends its discard componentry to make a pleasing swan-necked fixture.

The lights, recognised by Hong Kong-based planner Kamric To, are even more clever one you obtain up close. The shades, for example, are chopped-down PET bottles (painted or not), but with the lids seperated to trip over the lightbulb-holder, the "shade" itself can screw on and off, precisely similar to the threaded locking-ring on a store-bought fixture. My preferred part, though, is the power-switch (of course). Tucked in to a T-section on the finish of the lamp's base, the power-switch is hold snugly in one side of the T, whilst the power-cable trails from the other. Neat.

This looks similar to the best tyro project, giving you Ikea-like results at even descend prices (although if you do not revisit the Swedish superstore, you'll skip out on the inexpensive hotdogs and meatballs, themselves necessary tyro fare).
