But Warhammer (and this, its sci-fi, year 40,000 various ) unequivocally is the grandfather of the genre, the antecedent for all of the plain-spoken space warriors and the green-skinned and slippery hordes they fighting against. Marcus Fenix and his ilk might have grabbed a few headlines and sole a few games, but it's about time the Ultramarines got a few credit for being the initial murdering machines and wearers of outrageous shoulder plates.
And interjection to the gifted designers at Relic Entertainment and their pitch-perfect use of the Warhammer world in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine , they merit to obtain that credit.
Space Marine 's Captain Titus, for example, has about a hundred points of IQ on Marcus Fenix. Not usually can he cut an Ork in half with a chainsaw-sword, but he's moreover tactically brilliant, entirely fearless, and can broach lines like, "I am an instrument of the Emperor's will!" in a perfect British accent so good it will make you wish to mount up and salute. Titus faces problems, and instead of yelling "It's a hulk worm!" he just deals with them in a "For the Emperor" type of way. He's a badass with a brain.
