Epic Shares Gears Of War Perception And Anything Insubstantial At Comic-Con Panel

The rest of the panel, however, contained a couple of luscious pieces of Gears trivia, only for fans of the series. If you've lived and died with the COGs for 3 games now, read on.

A Next Generation Bayonet

The Lancer, that franchise's iconic chainsaw appurtenance gun, wasn't combined for Gears initially. "I longed for to see this gun in '98," mentioned Bleszinski.

At the time, Epic was working on Overkill , and Bleszinski mentioned he asked, "What would be the next era of a bayonet?" The answer was a chainsaw on the finish of a gun, and he showed off a couple of not similar pattern variations of the weapon, inclusive a with a round chainsaw tagged on to the end, and a that flipped out similar to a switchblade.

Healing from a Distance

Bleszinski think of developing a pistol that could reanimate allies and resuscitate people from a distance, but Fergusson shot it down after it was tested for a while. "I'd rsther than fire people than reanimate people with a gun," he said.

Bleszinski got the final laugh, however: The idea has been implemented in Judgment, more or less, with the foreword of a recovering explosive device that moreover revives any person it hits.

The Roly Poly Ticker

Another idea that never done it in to the array was an armored ticker - a rolling, armor-protected chronicle of Gears ' irksome small self-destructive imps.

A video was shown with the armored ticker aggressive Marcus Fenix in a assessment level. Though ammo bounced off of it, the force pushed the ticker away. In the end, mentioned Fergusson, an armored ticker didn't feel as gratifying or as dangerous as the explosive one.

Fun Wins

One air blower asked, if Gears of War: Judgment is a prequel, because there are more modernized versions of typical array guns enclosed in Baird's arriving game. "We know that the chainsaw lancer did not exist at the time of Judgment [in the existing lore], but it will exist in the game," Bleszinski answered. Why is that? "Fun wins."

Fergusson agreed, adage that if there was ever a time where something that would be fun in the diversion bumped up against something more tedious similar to succession or reality, "fun wins." That's a order the Gears array has had for a while, and it'll sojourn the box with Judgment .

Torque Bow Replica Incoming

In the past, Epic has expelled Gears of War copy guns to one side new games, as pre-order bonuses or as well-defined purchases. The Lancer was combined for real-life in this way, and the retro Lancer was the many new special creation. Another air blower asked during QA if there was other arms tapped for Judgment .

Fergusson mentioned there weren't any authorized releases planned, but that the copy creators for Epic were working on developing a "lifesized hanging ornament bow." At first, they'll only be developing it for Epic's own promotional use, but there's a luck that a hanging ornament nod copy will be existing to sale to the open at a few point.

Gears on the Big Screen

And finally, a air blower asked about the Gears of War film that's been a eternal gossip around the series. Bleszinski fixed that formulation had slowed down a bit, but that he and Epic Games were aiming to restart the pull closer to the finish of this year.

"What would guys wish it rated if you were to pull it off?" he asked the throng only as the row ended, and the assembly responded with resounding yells of "R!" All solely for a wisecracker, who snuck in an "NC-17!"
