Here are a few 3V to 9V DC converter circuits that were requested by a few of our visitors. It might be willing to help to have one of this converters when no 9V battery is existing or if you ponder that they are as well expensive. The initial route is really simple, it uses the TL496 power supply controller, a curl and a electrolytic capacitor.

This dc converter is built with the CMOS chronicle of 555 timer. You can obtain 12V as well if you change the zener diode to a 12V version.
