Chrome's Niko, A Camera-Carrying Bikers's Backpack

Today, the stars have aligned to bring the best Friday afternoon piece for Gadget Lab. As an backer of both camera bags and bicycle bags, suppose how swift we scrambled to my set of keys when we saw this camera-carrying backpack, from nothing other than Chrome, the bike-messenger-bag people.

It's called the Niko, and it's identical in idea to Kata's 3N1 bags , with a wraparound strap to open the bottom division and a separate, zippered and lidded partition up tip for sundries.

Like all Chrome bags, it consists of an externa; nylon bombard with a truck-tarp interior, digest it all but completely waterproof. And similar to all Chrome bags, it has that large seatbelt bend on the strap for quick-release. Sometimes, though, this let go is a small as well quick, similar to when a few dimwit comes up and jabs the switch, dropping your rigging to the ground. It has happened to me, and it has moreover happened to Brad over at Urban Velo , who brought to Niko to the notice.

In use, the 2.5-pound bag will grip cameras, lenses, flashes and other rigging in its padded, compartmentalized interior. Outside there are a few Velcro straps for keeping a mini-tripod, or even a pump. And since it usually has one strap, you can pitch it from your back to your trunk to squeeze the camera while still on your bike.

Chrome bags are usually pricey, but they are moreover approaching to final forever. Camera bags are moreover really expensive. So expensive, in fact, that they make the Chrome Niko look flattering in accord with at $95.

Will we be shopping one? Nah. we already have the Kata, and if we fancy receiving a camera out with a bike, we moreover have Chrome's Citizen courier bag, an expensive, complicated piece of pack that - when amalgamated with Photojojo's Anybag insert, is more than bag sufficient for anyone.
