E Waste Products To Toys: ThinkerToys

Ever looked at a raise of E-waste containing immaculately serviceable electronic free parts? Ever cringed at the considered of such many-sided pier waste products from all the countries more advanced in the margin of technology? And all this waste products being dumped in landfills in building countries where kids who should be in school, work here for a small pay of a dollar a day.

Having seen this, ThinkerToys proposed as an idea to reuse this eWaste and modify them in to fun toys for kids. The creations by Dhairya Dand ,

a assistant professor at Keio-NUS CUTE Center, Singapore, was beheld by everybody at the ICTD (International discussion on data and communication technologies and development), Atlanta 2012.

The pattern is simple: E waste products + Arduino =

Keyano turns an common set of keys in to a piano! With the keys musically mapped to notes.

Basic addition, division may be an useful talent for any kid. RandoMath is a small LED shade related to your P.C. keyboard, and asks you pointless math puzzles.

Storynory has available fun stories in your local language, block in the headphones or speakers for collaborative hearing.

Connect any aged TV or CRT guard and make it TV++ , increase a set of keys or a rodent for controls. This is a power full mini P.C. written for kids to be bending on to the TV again, but this time for great reasons!

eWaste is right away related to these toys without any modification. The consequent multiple turns the eWaste (keybaord, mice, speakers, monitors) in to something completely new and unexpected.

openTOYS is an continuing plan and more people might meeting the author for serve growth or for collaborating ideas. More of his functions may be found here .
