Libratone Lounge: The AirPlay Speaker Is All Growed Up

Libratone's Lounge orator is what the Apple Hi-Fi should have been: Sleek, white AirPlay-enabled and, er, covered in cashmere.

The heart of this large orator (it's a meter, or 3.3 feet long) is something called FullRoom, that uses 5 speakers and digital vigilance estimate to lamp the sound out to every dilemma of the room. The thought is that you listen to the same thing everywhere, not only in the stereo "sweet-spot" generated by two-box setups.

Inside the large cupboard is a 150-Watt amp, kicking out 50W to the 8-inch woofer and 25W any to the interconnected four-inch midrange speakers and one-inch tweeters.

You can block anything in around the analog/optical 3.5mm jack, but this is unequivocally about the AirPlay, and will work with any iOS device or iTunes-running (10.1 or better) Mac or PC.

This Apple-centric pattern continues to the confidante app (there's always a confidante app, right?) The app lets you tweak your setup by revelation the orator where it is in the room. Input the distances and placements of the walls and seat and collect a "voicing" (Jazz Club, Neutral, Easy Listening and so on) and it will melody the orator to fit.

It's a tarnish that it doesn't use the iPhone's mic to auto-set it formed on audio feedback similar to high-end amps, but then we theory the iPhone's mic may isn't up to the task.

Want one? Then lay down. This iPhone trapping will cost you $1,300. Available now.
