Magic: The Self-Inflating Bike Tire

Believe it or not, we have obviously read complaints from people on cycling forums where they nag about having to siphon up their tires once a month. Presumably these slobs never rinse the dishes, either. Or even obtain out of bed.

But whilst we can't put together their dirty kitchens, we can indicate them to the PumpTire, the "Self Inflating Bicycle Tire."

This Kickstarter plan is ingenious. The tire has other gaunt blood vessel running around the outside. As you ride, this blood vessel is squeezed agains the tire and air is squished out. Inventor Benjamin Krempel says it is similar to muscle action toothpaste from a tube. This air is then transfered in to the innertube around a specifically written valve assembly, and once the preferred (user-selectable) pressure is reached, the valve shuts off.

The tire itself is obviously related to this valve, that is how the air gets from the length of gaunt siphon blood vessel in to the innertube itself. You won't be pumping up a tire from prosaic this way, but as long as you sojourn puncture-free, you'll never must be tip up the tires again.

I can't see myself bothering with this. It's simpler to bring a tiny siphon in my bag along with a free tube. But we can completely see something similar to an electric bike forthcoming pre-fitted with these tires. we skepticism electric bike riders are the type to do their won continuance anyway, so this could be a great fit.

If successfully funded, there will be two tires. A $65, 65psi "City Cruiser PumpTire" and a set of two adjustable-pressure (up to 100psi) 700 x 25c tires for $150. The minimum declaration to obtain a tire is $45.
