Clip-On SoundJaw Fixes IPad 2's Terrible Speaker

SoundJaw is a tiny cosmetic widget that fixes a of the worst things about the iPad 2 - its stupid, tinny backwards-facing speaker. It clips onto the bottom of the iPad 2 (and moreover the iPad 1) and bounces the sound back towards you, severely stepping up its volume.

The initial iPad sounded flattering great for something so small. The winding back and decent amount of space inside probably accounted is to surprisingly bassy output, and the good-enough volume. The iPad 2 has a orator grille so terrible we still can't think it was written by Apple, and so easy to casing with your hands (or a folded-back Smart Cover) that it may be all but pale at any time.

Matthew McLachlan's SoundJaw fixes this by scooping up the sound and sending it towards you and your ears, and not vouchsafing it obtain muffled in your lap. The clip-on cosmetic dip may be seen in action here in his instead unpleasant video (Trains! Shaky camera! We're so cool!), and appears to make actually a difference. You can actually assessment this yourself by cupping a palm over the orator and redirecting the sound waves. Try it.

Pretty effective, right?

The SoundJaw is nonetheless other Kickstarter project, and a $20 declaration will obtain you a of them if the $7,000 aim is reached. If you declaration $225, McLachlan will encounter you for lunch and bring along 8 SoundJaws, and if you declaration $750 you'll obtain an iPad 2 and 10 SoundJaws "to pass out to your friends."

Or you could make your own. I'm now experimenting with domicile junk and will inform back if we have any success.
