While that was heartening, it was the now-pulled followup twitter (screen-capped above) that lifted eyebrows: "For those of you that wish PA Episode 3 , all you must be do is obtain 100,000 of your friends to purchase 12. Seriously. Do that and we'll make it," a Hothead staffer wrote. Turns out that's not considerably the case.
"That's of course headlines to me!" Penny Arcade biz city slicker Robert Khoo told Joystiq, adding, "there's nothing new to say about future [episodes]." Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik responded to Hothead's twitter , saying simply, "that's obviously not true."
Hothead's Vince Ceraldi free up the confusion, revelation us, "That was a really enthusiastic, vehement but mislaid twitter concerning Ep. 3 . This is may the outcome of the whole firm being so on cloud nine on how good received the games have been on the Mac App Store." Ciraldi mentioned that the Mac App Store "is a great apparatus for us as diversion makers to attain new gamers" who may not have well known about Penny Arcade Adventures . As is to idea that sufficient sales of the initial two games could expostulate growth of a third game, Ciraldi said, "As is to PA games, we can overtly say we are unaware what the future holds," adding that the "obvious air blower eagerness is exceedingly enlivening and rewarding, but there is no 'number' that is going to trigger any next steps."
And sales alone may not be sufficient to hasty Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins to obtain back in to the game's growth ... err, the diversion itself. At PAX Prime final September, when asked if and when we might pick up what caused the termination of the third episode, Krahulik told Joystiq, "I regard the complaint is that we're as well polite." Holkins added, "Believe that. we know it seems strange," and then Krahulik continued, "If you can suppose a world where that's a reality, we are as well honest to say precisely what happened."
Upon announcing the termination of the third part final March, Holkins told Joystiq , "[Hothead] unquestionably could've completed both games," alluding to the amount of appetite the developer was putting in to DeathSpank . "I regard they could've made DeathSpank and Episode 3, but we regard Episode 3 would've suffered," he added. "I mean, we know it would have suffered. So we'd rsther than not do it than do it half-assed, and so we're going to complete that story, but it's going to be on our website."
In September, expanding on that comment, Holkins said, "At the core of that is that we haven the correct to not defect our readers. we haven that right, as a creator, as an individual, if we regard that something is not going to greatfully you, we haven the correct not to make it. That's the pact; that if we regard that it's not going to be what you similar to or what you want, then we can't make it with a true face."
So it's possible, and may be even probable, that no matter how how much success Penny Arcade Adventures finds on Apple's Mac App Store, we'll never see that third episode. But that doesn't meant you shouldn't ponder the sale-priced episodes undeserved of your time, only don't design to be rewarded with a glossy new third part for your support. For now, you'll have to choose the non-interactive chronicle .
