Apple team leader Steve Jobs has voiced that he is to take "medical leave" from the company.
In an e-mail to employees he mentioned he was receiving the break to concentration on his health.
He mentioned he would go on as arch senior manager of Apple and be entangled in any leading decisions. Day-to-day running of the firm will pass to Tim Cook.
In late 2008 to mid-2009 Mr Jobs was absent from Apple for 6 months to have a liver transplant.
It was segment of the array of treatments he has undergone for pancreatic cancer. He was initial diagnosed as suffering from the cancer in 2004 and underwent operation after that that year to eliminate a swelling from his pancreas.
In his e-mail Mr Jobs mentioned he would be back at work as shortly as he can.
"At my request, the house of directors has postulated me a medical leave of AWOL so we can concentration on my health. we will go on as CEO and be entangled in leading vital decisions is to company," he mentioned in an e-mail.
"I have asked Tim Cook to be accountable for all of Apple's day to day operations."
Mr Cook is now the firm's arch working officer. He has run the firm day-to-day before now during formerly times when Mr Jobs has been traffic with his illness problems.
The statement was done on a open legal holiday in the US when there is no trade in firm bonds and shares.
However, Apple shares closed down 6.4% on the Frankfurt batch exchange. Year-on-year, they are up 79% and over 24 months up 328%.
The headlines comes forward of Apple's initial entertain results, due on 18 January.
Mr Jobs is an iconic participation at Apple and is at large attributed as the designer of its stream run of success formed around products such as the iPad and iPhone.
The AWOL comes as Apple is rumoured to be scheming to launch the second chronicle of its iPad - the inheritor to the inscription P.C. it launched in 2010.
