Home-Made Ice-Claws Won't Crampon Your Style

Snowed in? Sick of a winter where nothing but permafrost and ice widen forward of you until the spring thaw? Then you may ponder shopping a few crampons. Better still, because not make your own, similar to Instructables associate Kresimir Pregernik? And even improved than that, because not give them a bad-ass name, similar to ice nails ?

Pregernik's ice nails are deceased simple. Just take a t-section bracket/plate, and screw in a few rust-proof screws (galvanized steel is a great option). To end them unscrewing, Pregernik soldered them in place. The simply place them beneath your boots, fix up the screw-heads between the grips of the boots and tag in to place. A bicycle toe-strap would be a great selection here, as it's both secure and rapid to remove.

Repeat is to other shoe and then head out in to the snow, shouting as your untimely fellow pedestrians " reduction resourceful than you " trip and fall.

Going by Pregernik's article, he unequivocally stress-tested his handcrafted ice-claws. He's on foot on high ground, in a forest, covered with thick, sleazy ice. And he's receiving photographs. That, on its own, is flattering bad-ass.
