Panasonic Electric Granny Bike Foolishly Aimed At Kids

What about this for a bad idea? Take a lazy, overweight demographic (junior high-school students) and give them a reduction way to exercise. This is the grounds of Panasonic's newly-announced electric bike.

The BE-ENSK63 is obviously done is to made at home market, and Japanese sixth-graders are may fitter than their U.S counterparts, but this still leaves me wondering because these energy-filled youngsters would need a powered bike.

It gets worse. The bike will bring its supplement for up to 17km (10.5 miles) in eco-mode, but after that it will be roughly unfit for any child to obtain up a decent hill, as the appurtenance weighs a silly 24kg, or 53 pounds, or not far off the weight of the median 11-year-old.

Then you obtain to the styling. For me, it looks similar to a nice, cozy and functional ride. For a school-kid, it looks similar to a grandma bike.

Finally, there's the price. The child roving this bike to college will be mercilessly teased, and at last the bike will be stolen and trashed. The child will then have to travel home and discuss it his parents that he only mislaid his $1,000 bike.
