Pensioner Cuts Armenia's Internet

An aged lady in Georgia is confronting a jail judgment after reportedly causing internet services in beside Armenia to crash.

The nation found itself offline for hours on 28 Mar after cables joining Georgia to Armenia were damaged.

A Georgian interior method orator mentioned a 75-year-old lady had certified deleterious fibre-optic cables whilst scavenging for copper.

She has been charged and reportedly faces up to 3 years in prison.

"Taking in to account her more advanced years, she has been expelled tentative the finish of the scrutiny and successive trial," orator Zura Gvenetadze told AFP headlines agency.

She had been probing for copper in the Georgian encampment of Ksani.

The cables, owned by the Georgian Railway Telecom company, offer eastern Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

All 3 indiscriminate internet providers in Armenia - ArmenTel, FiberNet Communication and GNC-Alfa - were not able to to supply their standard service on the dusk of 28 March, Armenia's Arka headlines group reported.

Services were finally easy after midnight.
